Types of Poker Hands

There are several different types of hands in the game of poker. Some of these hands are called full houses and some are called flushes. A full house consists of three or more cards that match another card. A flush is a set of five cards of the same suit, in any order. Straight cards are five cards of consecutive rank, in any suit. Other hand types include two pairs, three of a kind, and pair. Pairs are pairs of two unmatched cards, one of each rank.

Pre-flop betting phase

In poker, the first round of the game is the pre-flop betting phase. The player who places the first bet is considered the active player. He may raise his bet depending on the amount of money that he has contributed to the pot. This betting phase will last until one player remains in the hand and matches the last bet. The big blind player is advised to play as many hands as possible while in position.

The amount of money that must be bet depends on the game variation. In general, the betting interval lasts until the last player reveals his hole cards. However, the amount of money bet is always at least ten chips. Players should raise the same size before the flop if they want to read their opponents’ movements. However, they should not raise more than 20 percent of their starting stack. For this reason, players should always make the first bet with at least 10 chips.
